PRIESTLY CONFRATERNITY OF THE THIRD ORDER OF ST. FRANCIS

OUR COMMITMENT

 

 

We priests, members of the Priestly Confraternity of the Third Order of St. Francis, called by Baptism to holiness, and by virtue of our ordination and a desire for deeper union with You, Most High God, commit, under Your divine inspiration, to follow the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi, who made Christ, Your Son, the inspiration and center of his life.

By imitating as far as humanly possible the six-winged Seraphs, the celestial beings whose only one desire is to worship You with an ardent love, and being purified from human impurities by a penitential way of life by means of the Rule of 1883 promulgated by Pope Leo XIII for the Third Order Secular, we desire to reach perfect charity through union with You and be re-formed into the image of Christ.

Accepting the call to greater cruciformity, filled with the Holy Spirit, and through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, we place ourselves fully to Your service, Most High Supreme God, declaring with St. Paul the Apostle, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (Gal 2:20)
