Conditions for Membership
“Those are fit for membership, who, called by divine grace, desire to dedicate themselves to God in a special way in the world; that is, wish to be pleasing to God and to be of service to the Church and to human society according to the spirit of St. Francis.” Ref: Constitutions Art. 11
The following are some of the requirements for membership in the Priestly Confraternity of the Third Order of St. Francis (TOFP):
- Catholic priest in good standing with the local Ordinary, in full communion with the Pope and unwavering obedience to the Magisterium;
- letter of good standing from their local Ordinary;
- attendance to Initial Formation sessions;
- acceptance to Holy Profession by the Spiritual Director of the TOFP
Seminarians discerning a call to the Third Order of St. Francis are welcomed to start the Initial Formation process with Franciscan Tertiaries. Upon Ordination, they become members of the TOFP.
